Inventor Assembly Annotation: a must have

Inventor Assembly Annotation: a must have

Future is telling us that 2D drawings are more and more loosing interest and new ways to document projects are to be found.
Inventor Professional 2026 and earlier versions are providing a good set of tools to annotate assemblies, so that you can almost forget to use drawing manager module.

Assembly annotations in Autodesk Inventor, also known as Product Manufacturing Information (PMI), are crucial for communicating critical manufacturing data directly on the 3D model, reducing errors, improving communication, and accelerating development cycles. PMI encompasses geometric dimensions, tolerances, surface finishes, and materials, allowing engineers to create a single, consistent digital source of truth for manufacturing requirements, which shortens development times and improves precision by eliminating ambiguous 2D drawings.
The following enhancements were added in the latest releases:
1. Tool to add dimensions, tolerances, notes, leaders, etc.
2. Support for import/export of assembly annotations to JT/STEP 242 with PMI
3. Creating a 3D PDF complete with assembly annotations.
